Cours de niveau I: PADI Open Water Diver

Scuba Diving is... Adventure. Adrenaline. Exploration. Freedom. Total!

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the first step in your new underwater adventures. It is also the most widely recognized certification in the world.

It's all about escaping the corner office... Exploring a new world... Experiencing new sensations.

Total Diving has prepared for you a kick-ass Open Water Diver course with our on-site in-door salt water pool and our own dive boat at less than 40 minutes from Montreal, to bring you to fresh water wrecks full of fish.

What will I do in the Open Water Diver certification course?

At least 5 dives in our own on-site in-door salt water pool, 5 sessions of theory in one of our numerous on-site multimedia classrooms and at least 4 open water dives on our very own wrecks from our very own dive boat.

Press "Play" to get a feeling of what the Open Water Diver course is all about...

This will earn you a lifetime PADI Open Water certification card.  And if you took advantage of the Total Diver package, you will also get 2 more certification cards and 7 more dives to get you ready for a world of adventures.

Are there any special requirements?

Anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can jump in. The minimum age for training is 10 years old and there’s no maximum!  We have other programs for kids below the age of 10.

What do I need to start?

All you need is your bathing suit and mask, snorkel & fins which are available in our stores, starting at 149$ - but plan 300$ for good quality and good performance fins with a mask & snorkel that you can rely on...

Everything else is included: PADI full-color professional manual for you to keep, waterproof dive tables, log book, rental scuba gear for pool & open water dives, a professional instructor and your certification card.

How long will it take?

You can complete the theory sessions and pool dives in ONE intensive week-end in Montreal - this is what we call the "Learn to Scuba Dive in One Week-End" program.  We also offer this course over 6 evenings, on 6 consecutive weeks, in Montreal.

In both cases, 4 open water dives are required afterward to obtain your open water certification card.

We have a new class starting every week, all year long! Simply check the schedule in the right margin of this page.

Can I get private instruction?

Yes!  Whatever your crazy hours, our instructors are willing and ready to accommodate.  Extra fees apply.

Where do we dive after the pool training?

You have 3 options:

Option 1) Local Dives

It’s a 2-day week-end adventure at our dive center on the waterfront in St. Zotique. See our wrecks and schools of friendly fish in the Parc Sous-Marin du Lac St-François. Jump on our own dive boat and join us for a BBQ lunch...

Option 2) Tropical Destinations

Complete your pool & theory here. Then, join us on one of many instructor-lead dive trips.  You’ll complete your open water certification dives in a sun-drenched tropical setting and you will not have to worry about theory during your holidays!

Option 3) Have a Trip Already Planned?

We’ll be happy to save you precious vacation time by doing all the theory and pool dives with you before your holidays and then, providing you with a referral to complete your open water certification dives with another PADI center.  This option is 100$ less than the regular price and does not include your 4 open water certification dives.

Why Total Diving ?

We give you the knowledge & skills necessary to become a self-reliant, safe and capable scuba diver. Our professionals set the standards for dive training with no compromise

All of our instructors, divemasters and boat captains have been trained for first aid, CPR, oxygen and defibrillator.

And we are the only dive center in Montreal with its own on-site indoor pool, which means that you have access to additional training sessions, if required. We are not limited by an hourly rental of the pool.

How much is the course?

$399.  It’s the most “all inclusive” course in Montreal with lots of “extras”… Contact us to discuss it further.

However, we strongly recommend that you do not take that 399$ course... We strongly recomment that you have a look at the Total Diver program, first.

Another special offer worth considering: For $150 more, you can do all of your certification dives in a dry suit and obtain your dry suit diver card.  This option is particularly interesting in early Spring and late Fall.

I have more questions...

Just give us a call or stop by.  In Montreal, we are open pretty much all the time. In St-Zotique, it depends on the season.

We always have coffee ready for you!  Scuba diving is more than a sport - it’s a lifestyle!  ...so much that you might even already be dreaming of a career in diving?
